The Radio Cart

Open-source furniture system — 2026

A radio is not just a stream: it is a place and people.

An open-source, nomadic radio cart and DJ booth designed for community radio stations. It is not a fixed object: it is a system. Built with parametric CAD, it can fit all the equipment an online radio can have: mixer, DJ deck, turntables, microphones, cables, and everything else.

Depending on what tools you have access to, it can be manufactured three different ways: with basic hand tools, in a standard wood workshop, or with a CNC router. Always from sheet wood. All design files, technical drawings and construction manuals are free to download.

Smell equals life

Interactive living habitat — with Olli Majalahti and Mirjami Salminen — 2025

Non-human living forms can have features we find unpleasant, but understanding them is essential for learning to coexist and collaborate.

Fermentation sustains bacteria and yeast, yet produces a smell many find unpleasant. This odour is also a sign of life. In this kombucha installation, visitors are invited to experience the scent of a healthy SCOBY.

The exhibition presents two living SCOBY cultures. By opening the cap, visitors can smell the SCOBY thriving in its glass homes. One grows in classic black tea, while the other embraces the Christmas spirit in a glögi bath. The SCOBY breathes through a carbon filter hidden between the wooden base and cap, containing the aroma.

We tested different kombucha bases to give the SCOBY different smells: matcha, glögi, coffee, rooibos, hibiscus, cinnamon, black tea, white tea and alcohol-free wine, all with different amounts of added acidity and sugar. For the exhibition we chose the most basic base (black tea) and the most festive one (glögi).

Orphan Chairs Index

Research-based publication — 2023

I am fascinated by the normally hidden domestic life of an object and how it can be revealed by analysing its state when it is discarded.

From January 2021 to April 2023 I photographed 83 abandoned chairs on the street and classified them based on their condition, from best to worst. This poster invites the viewer to imagine the lives of the chairs, and the causes of their damage.

Baltic Bench

Furniture design — with Asia Pomorska and Vilma Sainio — 2025

The Baltic Sea is a living body. To us, it is not a resource to take from, but a presence to be with.

This lightweight pine bench is designed for the Baltic Sea shoreline, inviting passersby to pause and look toward the horizon, water and sky. Its portability encourages users to lift and place it where they choose, making the act of sitting intentional.

Slightly lowered, the bench brings the body closer to the ground and draws attention to often-overlooked details: sand, moss, insects and drifting algae. The CNC-engraved surface magnifies the structure of Ulva intestinalis (algae), allowing its otherwise invisible patterns to be explored through touch.

Lap joint modular shelf

Furniture design — steel pipes and sheets — 2024

Lap joints are typically only used in woodworking. To create this modular steel shelf, I translated the traditional lap joint into the world of metalwork.

This joint, combined with simple bolts and wingnuts, allows for a rigid and stable construction while still being easily assembled by hand. I tried to embrace and highlight the beauty of the simple wingnut, rather than try to hide it.

Encyclopedia of the discarded chair

Research-based publication — 2024

“Once removed from personal space, the chair becomes the showcase of a past life and its use within the household. The overused inside becomes the abandoned outside.”

Continuing on from my previous examination of discarded chairs, I photographed 42 additional chairs discovered across Europe, and combined them to create an encyclopedia. The chairs are classified into eight categories based on their condition, and once combined into diptychs, they raise the possibility of interrelations and common stories.

The Secret Keeper

Interactive piece — ceramic, steel rods and sheets, Arduino, PLA 3D prints — with Valerio Santersenio — 2023

The machine seems to be hiding something. You have to learn how to listen to it. Move towards it, put your ear close to the grid so that it can start whispering its secret: the value of bitcoin. Be careful not to get too close to this shy machine.

This electro-mechanical, Arduino-based sculpture tracks the fluctuations of the cryptocurrency in real time, and communicates them by rhythmic taps on ceramic bowls.

Each ceramic bowl has a different character due to its thickness and glaze. A distance sensor senses when the visitor comes too close, and turns off the tapping.

Soft Stool

Furniture design — pine wood — 2023

With this stool, I aimed to embody the feeling of being at home, while further developing my woodworking understanding. A soft, large, square seat designed for comfortable movement. The edges are round, and the wood is warm. The legs contrast with the seat while remaining firmly anchored to the ground.

No nails or screws were used; the various components are joined using dowels, biscuits and wood glue.

The Material Bank

Collective community outreach / visual identity — since 2022

For over two years, I have been a coordinator at the Material Bank, a student-run materials shop at Design Academy Eindhoven. Along with organisation and training, I managed the community outreach and messaging.

For each poster I created, printed or digital, I attempted to capture and communicate the family-like feeling of the student initiative.

Elevator Radio

Collective community outreach / curation — since 2022

Since 2022 I have been part of Elevator Radio, a radio station run by students and alumni of Design Academy Eindhoven. The radio is a space where I feel truly at home, a place where I can connect with creatives and bring insight and discussion into our design community.
